The Exterior Of The Hotel
The outside of Historik Hotel Gotisches Haus fits perfectly with the magical feel of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Like many buildings in this fairytale town, it’s tall with a steep roof, a classic look of the medieval style you’ll see everywhere here. The hotel was recently updated but kept its historic look, even though the timber framing is now covered. Its orange window frames with bright red flowers are a nice touch that makes it stand out among the other historic buildings.
One interesting detail on the hotel’s outside is its hand-painted name on the front. Written in an old Bavarian style, the lettering gives the building a timeless look that really shows its long history. This little detail makes you feel like you’re stepping back in time as you get ready to enter.
The entrance has three big stone arches with glass doors. The owner told me these were made long ago to fit horse carriages, so people could drive right into the lower part of the house. This piece of history gives the hotel a special feel and makes it a unique place to stay in Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

One of the best parts of the lobby is the library, which is filled with a large collection of old books. It’s a wonderful place to relax with a good book, sip your morning coffee, or enjoy breakfast.
Most of the books are in German, so they’re great if you can read the language and want to explore some local history or literature. But even if you don’t understand German, the library is still a beautiful place to sit and take a moment for yourself.
It’s one of those places where you can slow down and really appreciate the history around you.
